211 sleeps

I pressed on and made a partridge!  Or at least "the book" says it's a partridge.  The creation on my table looks better than the photo but you get the idea.

The suicidal birds on the roads around here look more like this.

This is the book I am using.

I am regarding this as a challenge.

And it would still not be a good idea to wait for that drummer drumming.

  2. Oh I love these! I so enjoyed my CL advent picture last year. Do you just have the book, or is the kit with it? I follow Larissas blog (https://mmmcrafts.com/category/mmmcrafts-blog/) and she produces amazing Christmas ornaments. I have seen some lovely Xmas items in Paris this week. And I'm planning to make something when I get home (I am not shelling out €20 for a small bird, mouse or angel!) You are wise to start now. I began a tiny set of three nativity pieces one December and they languished unfinished for about 15years.

    1. It was your post about the Advent calendar which made me look at the site. I bought the book from there but bought the stuff elsewhere, spending in total £44.39 in stead of £79. I had toy stuffing and ribbon in my stash but bought everything else. I used the decracraft felt (which is what she uses) which is definitely A Good Idea and a worthwhile expense, and I used the DMC silk as well. I don't think the full set will get made this year but maybe over the next two or three years.

    1. Thank you. I like him but wouldn't look and say "That is a partridge!"

  6. The swan and goose on the book cover look rather good. Hope you get around to making them

    1. We'll see! But they are the most "lifelike" of the birds, I agree.
