When I first moved into this house, nearly sixteen years ago, there was a truly hideous gas fire with a huge brick fireplace in the sitting room. It came out the first day I had possession!
I then bought a neat little electric fire with glowing pebbles to imitate flames. That was nice but eventually it died and for the last few years I have had no fireplace or fire at all in my sitting room, just relying on the central heating.
I really missed having a fire, especially at Christmas as there was nowhere to hang a stocking! So, I've been looking various suppliers and last week I treated myself.
I feel it is a good addition to my hibernaculum which will become more howffy.
(Hibernaculum and howffy are both described in this post)
It looks like a very nice addition to your hibernaculum and not only will you be howffy, you'll have a place from which to hang your stocking! I can already see that the wise old men will want to make a stop nearby to warm themselves, come winter, when they start wandering looking for a star! :D
ReplyDeleteThey've already sent spies!
DeleteLovely fire is it electric. Heather
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm not allowed a gas fire. (Landlord's regulations)
DeleteThat's exactly what I want to replace our pretty but defunct gas fire in our house! We've got a chimney, but naked flames are a no-no these days so electric is what would be best.
ReplyDeleteAm sending off for the book!
I got it on-line from Fireplace World and it was delivered next day by Royal Mail so excellent service. It had to be assembled but Annie-the-home-enhancer volunteered her husband.
DeleteAnd I got the book on Kindle.
DeleteWe have an electric log burner for the same reason, we only ever set the lights/ flickering, it does make it look much butter on dark evenings.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping so.
