Dust if you must...
Dust
if you must,
but
it might be better,
to
paint a picture or write a letter,
to
bake a cake or plant a seed,
to
ponder the gap between want and need,
Dust
if you must,
but
there's not much time,
with
rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
music
to hear and books to read,
friends
to cherish and life to lead,
Dust
if you must,
but
the world's out there,
with
sun in your eyes, and wind in your hair,
a
flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
this
day will NOT come around again,
Dust
if you must,
but
bear in mind,
old
age will come and it mightn't be kind,
and
when you go, and go you must,
YOU,
yourself, will make more dust!
Rose Milligan
Ooh! Those words are so true! But, I must dust! Both my daughter and I have asthma and the air purifiers can only do so much. :)
ReplyDeleteAh, a poem that exactly describes me! Although I am waging a constant battle against cobwebs.
ReplyDeleteI need this framed and on my wall.
ReplyDeleteVery apt just now as I have just spent the morning putting the bedroom back into order after it had been painted! It pouring with rain so now I am going to craft. Catriona
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly! Although I have to confess that the dust really made me feel guilty today, so I had to do a bit of housework and do the vacuuming while the electricity was half price ;0)
ReplyDeleteI really HAD to dust yesterday. I was sitting in my armchair, enjoying the sunshine streaming through the picture window when I suddenly realised that strong beam of sunlight was focused on a VERY thickly dust-covered TV table and the shelf underneath that had a multi-storey , silvery cobweb! Aaaarrrggghhh!
ReplyDeleteWe have a couple of coal mines near us and dusting is a must or we get an ugly black coating on everything.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
