Tasty pleasure

I'm sure there were four fish pies and two lasagnas.
I wonder where the other pie went?
The tastiest pleasure has to be consuming something totally delicious but knowing that there are totally delicious foods in the freezer has to come a close second.  I get that "competent housewife" feeling when I put stuff in the freezer ready for the next time when I have guests.  These days I find entertaining rather tiring but I love doing it and the freezer is my great ally.

Today I have been batch cooking.  I've made lasagna and fish pies ready for friends who will be visiting in the next few weeks and I made sure I made enough for me to have a few extra delicious meals.  I also made some vegetable crisps which I've written about on my other blog.

So today's pleasure is knowing that I am ready to invite friends to come for a meal and I won't have to worry about cooking when they come.

  1. Now that is a wonderful pleasure! Well done :)

I've never had a fish pie and you've gotten me very curious about that.

    1. It's wonderful comfort food. It's a mix of different fishes, usually tatty bits of cheap fish, but I bought bags of frozen fish sold especially for fish pie. It was a mixture of pollock, smoked coley and salmon and I added value prawns. Then a lovely parsley sauce to cover the lot and mashed potato to top it. Bake it in the oven. Yum.

    2. You know I have to google that now. I've honestly never heard of such a thing. Also, a parsley sauce? I've never made (nor possibly eaten) anything with that either.

    4. Sorry to leave so many comments; Prawns are the same thing as shrimp (basically)! Haha, here I was thinking it was a fish I'd never heard of and it's in fact one of the most common sea foods. Do you guys ever call them shrimp?

    5. We call them shrimps when they are very small. Actually I used shrimps (our usage) his time as they were cheaper. Parsley sauce is just a bechamel (white) sauce with parsley in it. And yes, that is a very good recipe that you have found - I just cook my fish pies free hand!!

And I notice that for you "shrimp" is plural as well as singular. We have a common language - or not!
