At the moment the Monday Mermaids are beached. We are not keen on swimming when it is too cold.
One of our members had the bright idea of having a Jigsaw Display in Normanby Church as part of the West Lindsey Open Churches Festival in May. And the even brighter idea of The Mermaids assembling jigsaws on the Mondays we aren't swimming.
But, from her point of view, her best idea was to go on an eleven week cruise around the coast of South America and leave the jigsaws to the remaining Mermaids. Yes, that would be my friend E who has gone AWOL.
So we've collected a few extra people and we gather each Monday.

I got to witness that sea swimming in November. I can't imagine but guess it would be invigorating.
ReplyDeleteWe don't go sea swimming - it's just that the pool we hire was a bit chilly and none of us likes going home rather damp in this weather!

DeleteA village near used to have a big jigsaw festival as a fundraiser, not sure if they still have it - I shall have to find out.
ReplyDeleteAn 11 week cruise in the warmth sounds rather good at the moment and not swimming in February also sounds like a good idea .
Going all around the coast of South America also involves going to the Antarctic which may not be so hot! They don't disembark there - I think the nearest disembarkation may be the Falklands.
DeleteI like doing jigsaw puzzles. Some Thursdays I go to my sister's house for coffee and help her with her latest one. More fun doing a puzzle together.

DeleteThere's a jigsaw in early stages on my puzzle table, selected by granddaughter #1. When granddaughters #3 & #4 arrive on Sunday I may file it away and go with one with half the number of pieces. 1000 is too many right now.

DeleteGetting together with friends to do jigsaw puzzles sounds wonderful! Much better than swimming in a chilly pool in winter, in my opinion! :)
