I trained for ministry on a course which was run not just by The Church of England but the United Reformed and Methodist churches too, and we shared in the glories of all three traditions At the beginning of each year we used this prayer from the Methodist Covenant Service. I still use it now.

A great prayer, and so appropriate for today. God bless you richly in the days ahead 🙏💚

ReplyDeleteSo be it. Amen. Shirley in Perth. Happy New Year by the way.
ReplyDeleteSNAP! Except my training course was supported by the Baptists too! I trained in Milton Keynes, which is an "ecumenical city" - meaning that the majority of churches are supported by the 4 denominations and the priests could be from any of the four too. I had two URC priests, a Methodist and two Anglican while I was there. I was also raised Methodist, so the Covenant prayer is important to me. I've preached on it and used it in my Episcopal church at least twice.
