Looking back 4

Actually, that title isn't true.  I'm not looking back, I'm thinking of the things which the pandemic changed, possibly for ever, although of course most things are the same as ever.

One thing that has changed for me is colds.  Instead of one or two a year I get one every couple of years.  I think we have become more aware of protecting each other.

So many things never restarted.  A women's group to which I belonged folded, and sadly a lot of small businesses didn't survive.

We do more on line.  I think that would probably have happened anyway but isolation made it happen more.

I got to know my neighbours more which is odd as we were all at home alone.  My wonderful neighbours all contacted me to make sure I was OK and the weekly "Clap for Carers" has morphed into "Neighbourhood Nattering".

And we all have a new way of dating things - "pre-pandemic" and "since the pandemic".

  1. I, too, find myself saying pre-Covid and after the pandemic! One of the things that changed for me is wearing a mask when I go out.

    1. I still keep masks everywhere but it's a while since I wore one.

  2. Yes, definitely lots of things have changed. It's funny you say that about colds- I had a year where I had loads of colds and then not really any and it changed! I also feel lots of things have folded and there are lots of social things that have stopped. I am really sad that all the swing dance classes in Essex we used to do have all stopped since then!

    1. Yes, so many adult education courses haven't restarted. I'm part of that problem as I am happy to go on-line but then again, I'm not one for dancing.

  3. I have never really thought about how much things have changed post Covid. We were never really under the same covid conditions that you were, so that might make a difference. No real lockdown here, except for a couple of weeks. I do find myself putting on a mask every so often though, especially when covid rears it's ugly head. One thing we do is get our jabs every so often.

    God bless.

  4. I enjoyed the quietness of the lockdown - lovely birdsong, no traffic noise, clear blue skies, no-one at the door . . . but the most sad thing was the end of spending time with my grandchildren. No more coming to stay, playing board games, cooking together, trips out in the car, picnics, walking the coastal paths together. - and by the time we were allowed to mix again, they had grown up and away. :(
