I've just been to stand for two minutes outside my house and remember all who "did their bit" to make for Victory in Europe in 1945. This afternoon I shall go outside again and join with my neighbours for a stay-at-home tea party at 3pm. This road and the next (which is also a cul de sac) have each come to a consensus that we will celebrate quietly but publically with scones, jam and cream (everyone brings their own) and a cup of tea or glass of fizz. I've never been to a celebration like it and I'm rather looking forward to it.
Here's a few local homes. Sorry the photos are even worse than usual!

All I could find was a bag of poppies but I've done my bit! |
Sounds like fun to have a community wide tea party.
ReplyDeleteYour poppies look really good like that.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun! I haven’t seen anything like this here — I live on a cul-de-sac as well and everybody is shut up like a drum except for the young people who live behind me, across a major road — they seem to be having a party every night and quite a lively one I might add. I love the patriotism of all of that and your photos are nice
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, we have just had a virtual tea with family which was fun.
ReplyDeleteYou probably had a blast. Happy VE day to you.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
