A little upcycling

The kitchen notice board was much too small and was looking a bit tired.  I looked around for a new one but I knew all too clearly what I want and I wasn't going to find it.  So I had to make it.

First I needed a canvas.  a new plain one would probably be around £10 but I visited a few charity shops and found this one for £1.  24 inches square.  I found a piece of red fabric in my stash.  I bought a piece of cheap thin wadding for £2 and 7 metres ribbon for £2.80.  Add a squirt of fabric adhesive spray and a few staples and I've now got a notice board  for around £5.80.

I'm rather pleased.

  1. Clever you! That's a real bargain and completely unique. You've also given me an idea - I have 5 pieces of material, Japanese chrysanthemums in vivid colours, which I bought ages ago intending to use them in a quilt. But they remained folded up in a bedroom chest until I dug them out recently and wondered how I could display them. I have many canvases, so I just need some fabric adhesive and staples, don't I?
    Thank you for the idea!

  2. Inspired me too! I have a cork board which would make a good notice board if it were dressed up.

    1. For some reason it took me ages to pluck up the courage to make this and I don't know why. It's a fairly straightforward project. Have a go!!

  3. Very well done! Most of these sorts of things are so over priced and can really be a DIY project --so yay! A win for Mary!
